The first recording Maria has released in almost four years, Hot Summer (2006) is a new collection of original songs which employs her usual piano trio sound with a few new twists. There are a couple of duets, one ("Whistling Song") with Hanna Richardson, who is one of Maria's collaborators on Mean to (All of) Me: A Codependent Songbook. The other duet ("Pretend You Love Me") is with Atlanta-based singer Joe Gransden. Joe also sings "What Can I Say?", a bridegroom's song to his mother on his wedding day. Some tracks have extra percussion, added by Ron Keck of Subcat Studios in Skaneateles, N.Y.
